Q: Why do I keep breaking my sticks and/or cymbals?

A: After you’ve invested in a descent set of cymbals, you’re going to want to look after them.
You can minimise the possibility of damaging your cymbals by setting them up so they are easy to reach and play and by following these points.

1. Fit your stands with soft felts and protective nylon sleeves over the centre rods.

2. Keep cymbals loose. Over-tightening creates negative stress and turns energy that could be sound into deformation energy on your cymbal.

3. Avoid extreme angling. This restricts cymbal movement and sound.

4. Never crash directly into the edge of a cymbal. For best volume and sound, slice across the edge or strike the cymbal surface. This is also the most common cause of broken sticks.

Q: Do you repair and tune drums at Bern's?

A: Absolutely, YES. We'll always try to help you maintain your drums rather than just try to sell you a replacement!

Q: Do you take drums or cymbals in part exchange at the drum shop?

A: Yes we do, depending on their condition and what we have in stock at the time.
