This is my absolute favourite DVD. It is comprised of surprisingly good footage
from the 50’s and onward. There are lots of incredible drummers here; they don’t
make ‘em like they used to. Lionel Hampton absolutely blew me away, with his
incredible stick twirling and juggling that puts even Thomas Lang in the shade.
“Pupa” Joe Jones is another great featured. Cool as ice, always smiling and great fun.
Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich have 2 solos each. Watch the puddle of sweat accumulating on
Buddy’s snare drum.
No drummer living can touch these guys, for their virtuosity and fun factor.
